The corporate headquarters is located in Seattle, Washington. Alaska Airlines was Founded in 1932 as McGee Airways which flew its first flight from Anchorage to Bristol Bay. McGee Airways changed their name to Alaska Airlines in 1944. Alaska Air Group was formed in 1985 and is now the holding company for Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air (founded in 1981) and Jet America Airlines (merged with Alaska Airlines in 1987). Alaska Airline Rewards Programs/Perks: Alaska Airlines' program is called the Mile Plan program. They offer award tickets in exchange for miles. There are other rewards that may be earned in exchange for miles. If you have an Alaska Mile Plan credit card (offered through Visa) or use services of other Mileage Plan partners, you can earn miles for charges and redeem them for rewards. There are two status levels of membership in Alaska Mile Plan : MVP and MVP Gold. Status members get mileage bonuses, priority boarding, complementary or discounted membership to the Alaska Airlines' Board Room Club Board Room Clubs are located at the following airports: Anchorage : ANC, Los Angeles : LAX, Portland : PDX, San Francisco : SFO, Seattle : SEA, and Vancouver, Canada : YVR. Board Room Club members also have access to US Airways' Club, American Airlines' Admiral's Club, Continental's President's Clubs and Northwest's WorldClubs, and Delta's Crown Room Club.
